Last week, I gave a presentation at the United Way Career Camp about how to start a career in writing and how to be an author.
I was set to speak from 9:30 to 10:30 and timed out my presentation to about 38 minutes, leaving time for questions. I got there early, and everyone was ready to go. So I actually started almost 15 minutes early.
It didn't take me long to think this was a huge mistake.
What if I didn't have enough content to cover all that time AND an extra 15 minutes?
We talked about writing skills in communication, freelance creative writing, tips for writing a short story… and the movie ELF!
I wrapped up at 10:26. Just 4 minutes to spare for questions. Whew! As usual, I underestimated my own ability to be excessively wordy.
